About Tiger Hill Community Forest

The Trust for Public Land and Loon Echo Land Trust worked to purchase and protect 1,400 acres of forestland in the town of Sebago in 2019.

The Tiger Hill Community Forest (THCF) is home to hundreds of acres of rare wetlands, streams and forest, and is owned by Loon Echo Land Trust on behalf of the community. THCF also provides access to the Northwest River via two hand-cary boat launches. The forest connects to other conserved lands owned by the State of Maine at Cold Rain Pond. Old woods roads make for nice woods walks with scattered views of the hills to the south.

The forest is also home to Perley Pond. The pond is 29 acres, 16 feet deep and provides warm water species like largemouth bass and pickerel. THCF is home to moose, deer, otter and wading birds and waterfowl.

Trails & Maps

NOTE: A timber harvest at Tiger Hill Community Forest is taking place now through December. The harvest will not have an impact on recreational trails, but hunters and backcountry users should take note. Hauling will be via Peabody Pond Rd. The goals of the 70 acre harvest includes to initiate regeneration of white pine and hardwood species by opening up the canopy for sunlight to reach saplings on the forest floor, and to realize some income which we will reinvest in trail infrastructure and other amenities at Tiger Hill.

Woods roads provide access to the forest and two hand-carry boat launches provide access to the Northwest River. LELT has several trail projects in the works, and will be seeking volunteer support to help build more trails on the property in the coming months & years.

The main parking area for THCF is located on the south side of Folly Rd, just west of the Folly Rd bridge over the Northwest River. There is a hand-carry boat launch across the road from the parking area. You are welcome to drive in and drop your boats off, but please park your vehicle back in the parking area.
