Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 marks the 55th anniversary of Earth Day. This planet is the only home we’ve got. May we work together to care of our communities, each other, and the world around us. Celebrate and give back all month long!

4/22 - Bridgton Community Earth Day Cleanup

Tuesday, April 22, 8am - 10am | Bridgton Community Center

Join your neighbors, community organizations and local businesses for a morning of community service in celebration of Earth Day! Volunteers are needed to help clean up Bridgton’s roadways, parks, trails and beaches. Trash bags, gloves and safety vests will be provided. Sign up here.

4/22 - Earth Day Hike

Tuesday, April 22, 5:30pm - 7pm | Bald Pate Mountain, Bridgton

An annual tradition, celebrate Earth Day with a trek to the summit of Bald Pate Mountain via the Bob Chase Loop Trail. Free, but space is limited. Please register here.

Act

  • Read a book about the earth with these suggestions from Bridgton Public Library.
  • Spend time outdoors. Share your experience with your friends on social media. Tag the land trust or land steward that helps you access your special place.
  • Go for a walk with gloves and a bag & pick up any trash you see. Be sure to wear a bright color or a safety vest, and be mindful of sharp objects. Safety first, always!
  • Survey and remove invasive plants from your property.
  • Look for opportunities in your town to join a municipal open space or sustainability committee. If you have questions about what opportunities exist in the Lake Region, contact maggie@lelt.org.
